The year is 2021. The month: August. The day: Thursday the 25.
Now that you have the time, dear reader, allow me to show you the place. As it will no doubt be different for all of you, since it would be inconceivable for you to all be in the same location, I will describe it vaguely. In short, you reside in England. The far reaches and walks from which you have come are relevant only with respect to who you are today. What matters is that you are here now.
Perhaps at this very moment you are sitting at a desk. Or maybe reclining in the family room of your house. Maybe you don't have a family room. But wherever you are sitting, or standing, or walking, if you were to pick up the Daily Prophet right now, I can guarantee that you would be seeing the same devastating news as anyone else in England. For you see, dear reader, the headline informing the entire wizarding population of England about the impending rebirth of evil is at this very moment blazing in large font at the top of every copy of this morning's paper.
Luckily for you, the Ministry of Magic has been reformed, and unlike 23 years ago, when they blatantly denied the existence of any threat whatsoever, they have now taken some preliminary protective measures to ensure the safety of our beloved community.
The true identity of one not-so-famous witch, which until today has been shrouded in doubt and speculation has been revealed via prophecy. For the purposes of not causing a riot, the full details of the prophecy are not being disclosed to the public. But what is being distributed in hopes that it will become common knowledge is the name and nature.
". . .Jezabel is her given name. And the only knowledge of her heritage was lost in the fire. And though young in years, her destiny is dark and her burden heavy. To carry on the name of the darkest wizard in history, and finish his so-called noble cause. . ."
Though it may seem vague out of context, you have all no doubt caught the reference to the "darkest wizard in history". We know him by many names: most widely he-who-must-not-be-named, Lord Voldemort by the brave, Tom Riddle by the historians. But there is only one face. What will come as a surprise is the allusion to a blood relation. Though it was always suspected that Riddle would have wanted to produce an heir, there had been no evidence to support or refute the uncertainty around the matter.
There will always be wizards who support the cause of the once mighty Lord Voldemort. For this mysterious Jezabel, should she choose to carry on his work, she would not be lacking an army. But that has yet to be decided. What you should know, is that as a wizard, the times ahead will be rough. I would advise you to prepare, and take head of the warning in the prophecy. Fate, will only be decided in time.
Who you are, and where your loyalties lie will be very important in the coming months. If you have until today considered your life to be mundane and repetitive, I assure you that you will no longer be plagued with boredom.
Yes you should feel very special indeed, for clutched in those fingers of yours, whether they be boney or sausage-like, is a letter: from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry no less. You could have been expecting this, as it may only be your booklist. Or maybe it is coming as a complete shock, in which case, I appologize for having thrown all of this information on you in such mind-boggling detail. It must be a lot to swallow, but I assure you that you are far better off hearing it from me that through the grape vine.
